Misconceptions About The 5E

As I mentioned in the last video, there are a LOT of misconceptions out there about the 5E Model.  Before we dive into what the 5E IS, let’s review what it is NOT.

First, and most importantly, the 5E Model is NOT a lesson-planning framework, in the sense that each day students enter your class and participate in a lesson.  You won’t address all 5 “E’s” in a single class period! 

The 5E Model is used to design instructional sequences.

The amount of time you spend on each phase of the 5E Model will vary based on both your content and your students.  

The 5E CAN be three-dimensional. 

The 5E Model is not truly a linear approach.
